TORONTO, Ont.
--
Ryerson Rams forward Boris
Bakovic (Toronto, Ont.) has moved into second place in
Ontario University Athletics (OUA) career scoring
following a game-high 31-point effort in Saturday's
78-70 loss to the No. 2 Carleton Ravens in Ottawa.
In his fourth-year with the Rams, Bakovic has recorded
1,896 points during his career with Ryerson. On
Saturday, the two-time OUA all-star moved into second on
the OUA career scoring list, surpassing Lakehead's
Kiraan Posey who tallied 1,879 points from 2003-06 and
2007-09.
Kevin Dulude holds the league's record for most career
points with 2,092, which he amassed from 2000-05 with
the RMC Paladins. Dulude is also the only player in OUA
history to reach 2,000 career points.
Bakovic became Ryerson's all-time scoring leader in
2008-09, surpassing previous leader Jan-Michael Nation,
who recorded 1,312 points for the Rams from 1998-02.
Weekend losses to the Ravens and the No. 5 Ottawa
Gee-Gees has dropped Ryerson's record to 6-10. Despite
the two losses in the nation's capital, the Rams have
been playing well in recent weeks. After winning twice
on the road last weekend, Ryerson played Carleton and
Ottawa tough, losing by eight points to the defending
national champion Ravens and nine points to the
Gees-Gees. Earlier this month, the Rams lost to Ottawa
by 29 and Carleton by 40 points at Kerr Hall. Saturday's
78-70 loss was the smallest margin of defeat for Ryerson
against Carleton since a 79-75 loss in 2001. The Rams
last victory over the Ravens was an 81-74 win on January
8, 2000.
Ryerson returns home next weekend to face the Queen's
Gaels (9-8) on Friday and the RMC Paladins (0-17) on
Saturday at Kerr Hall.
